Location
Granny’s Lodge is situated on the fringes of Newton Ferrers, a picturesque waterside village in the south-west corner of Devon. The lodge is one of a small number of similar holiday properties in the Briar Hill Holiday Park, with the tranquil rolling landscape of the South Hams beyond.
Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo – the village adjoining it – together make up one of Devon’s most scenic communities. Newton and Noss slope down to the lovely Yealm Estuary, and the river attracts yachters, paddleboarders and kayakers. If you’re not out on the water, you can watch the action unfold from one of the enticing pubs scattered on the waterside – ideal for grabbing a glass of wine or beer, coffee, ice-cream or a delicious meal.
Newton and Noss have some fabulous walks too. Take a leisurely stroll along quiet lanes, ancient woodland and country paths, out to the spectacular coastline of the English Channel. This stretch reveals panoramic ocean vistas, the dramatic rocky shoreline of Devon and Cornwall, and a clear view of the Great Mewstone, a striking island off the coast.
The area is also an ideal staging point for exploring the multitude of attractions of the region. From gorgeous sandy beaches and the brooding beauty of Dartmoor to the diverse shopping and cultural diversions of nearby Plymouth, there’s so much to enjoy.
