Location
Akuna is positioned among a small, quiet collection of holiday homes called Briars Hill Holiday Park. This is found on the edge of the village of Newton Ferrers, on the southern fringes of Devon.
Newton Ferrers faces another village, Noss Mayo, and together they skirt around the pretty Yealm Estuary. This community offers a wealth of shops and services, plus a good choice of welcoming pubs that serve quality meals and drinks, including local beers. Together, Newton and Noss invite you to immerse yourself in the relaxed pace of Devon village life.
What attracts visitors most is the natural beauty of this relatively hidden corner of Devon. The Yealm River at the heart of this area is ideal for sailing, paddleboarding and birdwatching. And it’s perfect for scenic walks in the fresh sea air – around the pretty woodland that is abundant here, and out towards the spectacular coastline of the English Channel.
The lure of sandy beaches, the rugged tors of Dartmoor and Plymouth’s mix of old and new city attractions are only a short drive or bus journey away.
Getting there
By car
Follow the A38 into Devon, heading towards Plymouth, then take the exit marked Smithaleigh/Yealmpton. From Yealmpton, turn left into Torr Hill, continuing onto Ford Road and the B3186. Then follow signs to Newton Ferrers, continuing into the village and through the main street to The Green. You’ll find Briars Hill Holiday Park on your right-hand side, just before the church.
By train
You can catch a train service to Plymouth city centre. From here, take a taxi for the remaining half-hour journey to your holiday lodge, or you can catch the bus service to Newton Ferrers if the timings are convenient.
By coach
Coaches arrive conveniently in the heart of the city centre. From here, you can catch a local bus or it may work better to take one of the many available taxis for the remaining half-hour drive to your holiday lodge in Newton Ferrers.
