Pink Cottage is a beautiful period cottage set alongside the waters of the Yealm Estuary in the heart of Noss Mayo.

This pretty property is everything you’d want a Devon village cottage to be. It has quirkily curved walls, exposed stonework and roof beams, and wooden panelled windows set in deep reveals – all those quintessential features that evoke traditional cottage living.

But for all the lovely period features of this Grade II Listed home, there’s a light an airy feel and plenty of modern comforts to make your stay a pleasure. Bright white walls, with joyful splashes of colour, complement the old world wood and stone. And the open vaulted ceilings upstairs brings a sense of drama and spaciousness. At the rear of the property, a secluded garden and terrace allow you to enjoy the outdoors.

And the property offers a fantastic bonus space – a studio annex just across the lane from the property. This is perfect as a relaxing day room, or can be set up as an extra bedroom for two. This space features triple-panel patio doors opening onto a terrace with stunning views over the estuary, and steps down to a waterside patio – perfect for a barbeque or relaxing with a drink.

  • Staircase (be careful of low doorway at the bottom – 5’9”) leading up to open lounge area on first floor, with large sofa, soft seating cubes, window seat and Smart TV.
  • Toilet with wash basin.
  • Master bedroom has king size double bed, window seat with estuary views, bedside cabinets, console table, and vaulted ceiling with exposed wooden beams.
  • Bedroom 2 has twin single beds and French doors opening onto back garden.
  • Bedroom 3 (accessed via Bedroom 2) has a single bed and French doors opening onto back garden.
  • Family bathroom has bath with shower over, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail.
  • Studio annex just across the lane from the main house, with kitchenette (microwave, fridge, kettle, sink), sofa, table and chairs for two, and shower wet room with toilet and wash basin. Features full-height folding doors offering stunning estuary views. There is also a utility area with washing machine and tumble drier, and storage area ideal for beach or sailing gear. This space can be set up as Bedroom 4 when requested in advance – arranged as two singles or a double.
  • Secluded terrace and garden, accessed via steep steps at side and rear of the cottage, or from two of the bedrooms, plus patio and barbecue by studio annex. Also, private access to riverside garden of Ship Inn, next door to studio annex.
  • Private parking for one car (and possibly two small cars) directly opposite the cottage, above the studio annex.
  • Central heating, with a mix of radiators and underfloor heating.
  • Pets are not allowed at this holiday let.

Location

Pink Cottage is set in an old part of Noss Mayo, at the heart of the village and beside the Yealm estuary.

Noss Mayo, together with its sister village of Newton Ferrers opposite, is a prized spot for relaxed waterside living, as well as pursuits on the water, such as sailing and paddle boarding. The cottage is positioned opposite a popular family pub, the Ship Inn, where you can find a great menu of meals, ice creams and a fine selection of beers and wines. The pub has a lovely waterside beer garden which is privately accessible from Pink Cottage’s studio annex garden.

Discover fantastic walks from your doorstep through woodland, countryside and alongside the pretty estuary, out to the English Channel, with some of Devon’s most dramatic coastal scenery to enjoy. Within a short drive from the property, you can find beautiful sandy beaches, the urban and historic attractions of Plymouth, and the unique allure of the wider Devon and Cornwall region.

Getting there

By car
From the A38, take the exit for Smithaleigh/Yealmpton and when you arrive in Yealmpton, turn left into Torr Hill, driving on to Ford Road and along the B3186. From here, turn left into Widey Hill and on into Newton Ferrers. At Noss Mayo, turn onto Stoke Road, continuing onto Revelstoke Road and onto Chequers Haigh, before turning right onto Hillhead and continuing into Passage Road, where you’ll see Pink Cottage on your left, with parking immediately opposite, on your right.

By train
Catch a train service to Plymouth city centre. From here, there is a bus service to Noss Mayo but it is infrequent. Alternatively, there are numerous taxi services to take you on the short remaining journey to your holiday let.

By coach
There are numerous coach services arriving in Plymouth city centre. From here, there is an infrequent local bus service to Noss Mayo. You might prefer to use a local taxi service for the remaining half-hour drive to Noss Mayo.

Wander around the surrounding Noss village, and explore Newton Ferrers just opposite on the pretty, sloping banks of the estuary. This tranquil corner of the South Hams offers breathtakingly scenic walks, lovely traditional pubs, and opportunities for sailing and paddle boarding.
