The Post House is a fantastic holiday property with sensational waterside views. With its former life as Noss Mayo’s Post Office and general store, this is a place with a story to tell. And thanks to a high-quality renovation and redesign, it’s now a highly desirable holiday home too.

A sense of style and space are apparent throughout the house. The open-plan living space, with a combined dining and sitting room on the upper ground floor, makes for a sociable, relaxed stay. Soft white walls, a contemporary wood floor and strong design touches create a calm, relaxed feel.

This opens into a beautiful kitchen, complete with high-end equipment and chic, sleek cabinetry  and a cool island – everything you need to make cooking a joy.

Wide concertina doors open from the kitchen to form a seamless connection to the roof terrace. This is the ideal place to enjoy meals and drinks in the open air while making the most of those incredible views over the water and the banks of the villages.

The quality continues throughout The Post House, from the serenely decorated bedrooms to the high-end bathroom and en-suites. Everything has been considered here to bring a feel of understated luxury for a thoroughly pleasant stay.

Location

This property is positioned right by the water’s edge in the heart of Noss Mayo, an idyllic village near the coast in South Devon. 

Immediately next door, you’ll find The Swan Inn, a friendly local pub renowned for dishes that use fresh local produce. This is one of three pubs across the Noss Mayo and its twin village of Newton Ferrers – ideal whether you’re looking for a meal or simply or an ice-cream, a coffee, or a glass of something stronger. 

Newton and Noss are set around the Yealm Estuary, offering great opportunities for water-based pursuits such as sailing and paddle boarding. Being just a few steps from a slipway, this property is perfectly placed, whether you like to get out on the water or simply watch the life go by as the tides and light shift.

You’ll also find fantastic walks from your doorstep through woodland, open countryside and alongside the river out to the English Channel, with spectacular coastal scenery enjoy. Beyond the immediate area, you’re within easy reach of sandy beaches, Plymouth’s historic and cultural attractions, and the allure of the wider Devon and Cornwall region.

Getting there

By car
From the A38, take the exit for Smithaleigh/Yealmpton and when you arrive in Yealmpton, turn left into Torr Hill, driving on to Ford Road and along the B3186. From here, you turn left into Widey Hill and on into Newton Ferrers. At Noss Mayo, turn onto Stoke Road, then take a right turn onto Pillory Hill. You’ll find The Post House on your left, immediately to the left of The Swan Inn.

By train
Catch a train service to Plymouth city centre. From here, there is a bus service to Noss Mayo but it is infrequent. Alternatively, there are numerous taxi services to take you on the short remaining journey to your holiday let.

By coach
There are numerous coach services arriving in Plymouth city centre. From here, there is an infrequent local bus service to Noss Mayo. You might prefer to use a local taxi service for the remaining half-hour drive to The Post House.
